If this year’s World Cup gives us funny soccer images like these then it will be a fantastic tournament. The following images of dancing players, dwarves and incredibly stretched shorts are some of the weirdest moments from the world of soccer.
The Dancing Image
This is one of the funniest soccer images because they are both trying really hard to play tough and shrug the other player off. However, it just looks as though they are about to start a nice tango session.
The Yellow Card Image
When the referree shows a yellow card to a player you expect him to pay attention. But not this much. It looks as though he thinks that it is some sort of card trick the referree is playing on him.

A referree showing a yellow card to a player is a common enough sight but we don’t often see it the other way round. This is what happened in a game in Scotland when the referree dropped his card and Paul Gascoigne flashed it at him before giving it back. What did the referreee do next? That’s right; he showed Gascoigne the yellow card.

I don’t know how they got into this tangle in the first but it seems as though one of them is enjoying it a lot less than the other. Something tells me that the landing is going to be very messy for the Italian.

Does anyone out there have the faintest idea what this guy was doing? Randomly pulling up your shorts until they are stretched as tightly as a particularly taut trampoline isn’t usually a big part of the game of soccer. Or of any sport. Or of life in general.
The Punch Image
Giving a sly punch on the chops to an opponent is one thing but doing this in mid-air with the whole world is watching is quite something else. Actually, if you look at the shadows you will see that the ball is just above the head of the guy in the red top, so maybe this is a bit of an optical illusion rather than a vicious, unprovoked attack.

Sure, it is easy to sit here and laugh at some of the funniest soccer images. It looks easy to you smart guy, doesn’t it? You think that all you need to do is run around and kick a ball while staying on your feet. Wait till you give it a try. Before you know it your nose will be buried in the ground and your strangely angled body will be flapping about in the breeze.
The Shirt Pulling Image
I’m almost certain that this particular manoeuvre isn’t really allowed in soccer, or in any sport really. The look on the face of the guy being hauled off the ground is priceless. I’m guessing that he didn’t just score a goal.

This is probably my favourite of all the funny soccer images I have seen. It looks like a Photoshop but it isn’t. It is just a wonderful optical illusion, as a short player leans back, with a couple of much taller players in the background.
