There are a lot of mysteries in this world and the good news is that there are photos of many of that we can check out and be utterly baffled by. Can you work out what it is we can really see in these creepy unexplained photos from the past?
The Cool Time Traveller
Do you notice anything odd about this photo from British Columbia in the 1940s? Yup, the cool dude with the shades looks completely out of place among the rest of the folk. His shades and his clothing led to him becoming an internet sensation as a supposed time traveler. Some people also think that he is holding a modern camera in his hands too, while the guy at the front is holding a camera from the 1940s. He could be taking photographs during the event. It was claimed that his clothing and sunglasses were of the present day and not of the styles worn in the 40s. The event he was photographed at was a minor re-opening of the South Fork Bridge in 1941, which doesn’t seem like the kind of thing a hip time traveler would be especially interested in. Shouldn’t he be messing up the space-time continuum in a more exciting way?
The Solway Firth Spaceman
This family photo was taken by a man by the name of Jim Templeton in the Solway Firth in England in the 1960s. There’s his daughter holding some flowers but wait a cotton picking minute, who’s that astronaut chap in the background? Experts confirmed that the photo was not tampered with or retouched and we still don’t know what the heck was going on. Reports of mysterious government projects nearby only help to deepen the mystery of this unexplained photo.
The Falling Body
After moving into their new home in Texas the Cooper family took some photographs. As you can see in this picture, a nice ghost of a falling body made sure that they felt right at home.
The Battle of LA
What exactly happened in the skies over Los Angeles on February 24 and 25 of 1942? Was it a WWII enemy attack, a false alarm or a UFO battle? The US Office of Air Force History put it down to “war nerves” as a lost weather balloon was shot at in error. Really?
The Ghost Driver
There are plenty of unexplained pictures of ghosts around but few of them are as mildly convincing as this one. It hasn’t been tampered with, according to experts, so where is the driver? The picture was taken at Tantallon Castle in Scotland and won a large online vote as the most convincing ghost image.
The Freddy Jackson Ghost Photo
You need to have really good eyesight to spot Freddy Jackson in the top row of this photo. It was taken in 1919 but Freddy was killed just before then. Creepy photo or what?
The Hessdalen Light
Another famously unexplained photo is this one of the so-called Hessdalen Lights. People have been talking about strange unexplained lights in this part of Norway for decades. There was an especially active period in the early 1980s and while there are plenty of possible logical explanations, none have yet been classed as being definitive.
The Skunk Ape Photo
This is an unexplained photo is from Sarasota County, Florida in 2000. A woman took this photo in her backyard and then sent it to a newspaper. She said that the Skunk Ape visited her house on different nights to steal apples. The series of pictures she took are known as the Skunk Ape photographs. These photos have convinced many people that this creature really does exist and that these images are not a product of retouching.
