Kickstarter is home to some amazing kickstarter projects that could change the world forever. Or at least could give you a smart new phone or a funny t-shirt.

This is a current project at the time of writing, so if you are quick you might be able to get hold of your own blood sucking games controller. It is called Blood Sport and adds the art of sticking a needle in your arm to the pleasures of gaming. Lose a game and you lose some vital blood from your body. Seems fair.
A Potato Salad
A guy called Zack Danger Brown (it may not be his real name, I guess) didn’t want your blood. He just wanted a freaking potato salad. Now in this situation most of us would head out and buy one. This is exactly why neither you nor I have Danger as a middle name. Our hero with a hunger started a ridiculous Kickstarter project to get make a potato salad. He over-achieved his funding target and become a minor internet celebrity at the same time. He only wanted $10 but ended up with over $4,000.
World’s Biggest Jockstrap
If you plan to make the biggest anything in the world then you are leaving yourself open to the Gods of chance and Guinness. Someone more foolish than you will be along shortly to waste even more of their time making something marginally bigger than you just did. This didn’t put off Michael Barrett. He had a burning desire to create a giant jockstrap. 11 people backed him and this was enough to make him a happy man and the world a slightly more surreal place to live in.
A Doctor Who Rap Album
Anyone who sets up a silly Kickstarter project to fund a Doctor Who comedy rap album is setting himself up for a fall normally. Stunningly, the guy who woke up one morning with this dream pulled it off. He raked in a quite amazing $4,254 to live out his dream of setting amusing tales of a time-travelling doctor to hip hop beats. Possibly even stranger was the project to launch a TARDIS into space.
The Ostrich Pillow
You’ve already seen the Ostrich Pillow contraption before, haven’t you? Heck, you might even have paid money to own one. In that case you are a fool as well as a precariously light sleeper. This utterly ridiculous sleeping aid was created by a company called Studio Banana Things. The funding they needed was $70,000 but they raised close to $200,000. Sometimes I think I’m living on the wrong planet.
Combat Kitchenware
The idea of making a frying pan with a sword stuck onto it is the kind of thing you might come up with at 4 in the morning after several long hours of knocking back tequila, mango and absinthe cocktails. Yet, it turned out to be the passport to $46,261 in funding for one deranged genius.
Building Lionel Ritchie’s Head
If you were starting a crazy Kickstarter project to build an inflatable sculpture of a celebrity’s head it would have to be Lionel Richie’s, wouldn’t it be? This weird project got $13,000 in funding, possibly from the crooner himself.
