The Dinka Facial Scarring

The Dinka people in Africa are famous for their scarred faces. This is done to kids with a red hot knife and they need to be brave and not cry or else they will lose the respect of the community.
The Thai Festival Madness
There is a festival in Phuket, in Thailand, in which people do all sorts of crazy and wild stuff. If I’m being honest I don’t even know what this guy has done to his face and I don’t intend to look at the photo too closely either.
The Lizard Man
This guy is called the Lizard Man. No, I don’t know why either. Now come on, if you were planning to turn yourself into one of God’s sweet creatures you wouldn’t exactly choose a horrible lizard, would you? Lizard (that might not be his real name, by the way) has a forked tongue, weird ridges over his eyes, sharpened teeth and a whole bunch of other freaky stuff going on. I have no idea what he has had done to his ears. They seem to have turned into some sort of chewing gum.
Leopard Man

After Lizard Man there’s only one way we can really go. That’s right; meet Leopard Man. To be fair, this perfectly sane chap’s facial modifications are probably the least scary thing about him. Almost all of his body and face has been tattooed and he lives like a hermit on a Scottish island. Well, you would, wouldn’t you? He was once the world’s most tattooed man and his real surname is – somewhat hilariously – Leppard. He has also had his teeth sharpened.
Elaine Davidson

Yes, there is a woman somewhere under all of that stuff. After the last couple of people Elaine Davidson sounds like such a normal name. Thankfully, this lady is no shape or form normal. The most pierced woman in the world is from Brazil but now lives in the UK. She had almost 200 facial piercings at last count.
Etienne Dumont
What has this guy done to his face? He’s covered in piercings, silicone implants, tattoos and other wacky stuff. Still, this is the first of our strange facial modifications which seems to be useful. He appears to have got a handy hole under his mouth which must make his dentist’s job a whole lot easier.
Kala Kaiwi

What? How do you even go to a place and ask for what this guy has had done? Excuse me, can you fit some spikes and screws to my head, make my ears like really big and make my head all bulgy? You can? Oh, that’s super. This genius of our times is called Kala Kaiwi.
Neck Rings
What do you mean this doesn’t count as a facial modification? Jeez, you guys are a tough crowd. To be honest, I have always been just a tiny bit tempted to get this done. Wouldn’t it great to take the rings off and have a giant really weak neck that causes your head to fall over to one side? Ah, not really.
Lip Plates

After some of the stuff we have looked at so far this looks almost normal. I’d almost be more worried about why this person is wearing a wig made of sweetcorn than by their giant lower lip. This facial modification is probably a great help when it comes to eating soup, I guess.
