kingsford charcoal

Where did Kingsford charcoal come from?  How about Henry Ford.  Ford looking at a pile of lumber scrap that was discarded from the manufacturing process of building his model T car wondered what to do with this by product. kingsford charcoal 1The light bulb went on and the rest is charcoal history. E.G. Kingsford a relative of Fords and realtor , helped in finding and developing the charcoal manufacturing plant site in the early 1920’s. In honor of his relative, he renamed the company The Kingsford charcoal company.  The original charcoal was only sold at Ford dealerships (maybe they should try that now to increase floor traffic) The company now owned by the Clorox  company continues to prosper with its smoky taste and open pit cooking feel.
