This is not your Dad’s homebrewing club. We have seen a tremendous growth in homebrewing clubs throughout the United States. What started as guys getting together for drinks and fun has turned into a big business industry. Now don’t get confused, there still plenty of clubs, like the one I’m involved with, that home brew for personal consumption.  We together several times a year (Brew Lollapalooza) and invite friends and family for food and drinks. We usually tap the brew that we made from past home brew events and prepare a new batch for future parties. And some of the recipes that we find are unbelievable. I know what you’re thinking.  Do we sale anything we home brew? No, not yet. The law varies from state to state, but under a certain quantity, no special license is required. Beyond that, the Food and Drug Administration gets involved.

Home brew turns into Micro brew. This is where the fun begins.  We all have our local favorite micro brewery.  Many of these home brew clubs have turned into very successful microbrew businesses. The recipes and the names given the special brew have also gathered a fan following.  The next time you’re in a liquor store look at the micro brew section, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

The growth in the microbrew industry has also spawned growth in the micro brew fest activities throughout the United States and internationally. Very few weekends go by that you are unable to find a festival in your area. There you can the latest in new brews and new recipes. You try samples from hundreds of brew masters, find a favorite and order more!!!! It’s a blast!!!

Homebrewing is here to stay. It’s amazing seeing it turn this club of friends having fun to a microbrew indursty with sales in the billions. Enjoy, there is something for everyone.
