Since 2000, Maxim Magazine has brought out its definitive list of the most beautiful women in the world. These women are always the best of the best, the hottest of the hot. They come in all ages, ethnicities, and professions, but each woman is an absolute knockout in her own right.
Some beautiful women are featured once and never again grace the pages of Maxim. Others climb all the way to the top as the years go on, proving that sexy can age like a fine wine. They’re big names like Halle Berry, Kate Upton, Nicki Minaj, and even Pippa Middleton, or they’re lesser-known women like Bar Paly and Caroline Wozniaki. As the years go on, the ladies come and go, but they’re always guaranteed to be absolute knockouts.
Everyone loves to talk about the big winners, don’t they? Miley Cyrus jumped from number 68 in 2012 to the top spot in 2013. Now that’s ambition! Fourteen lovely ladies have taken the title since the list was started in 2000. It’s a position often graced by the biggest celebrities, models, singers, and actresses. Pop star Christina Aguilera (2003), actress-turned-trainwreck Lindsay Lohan (2007), actress Jessica Alba (2001), singer Katy Perry (2010), and actress Olivia Wilde (2009) have all been featured on the top spot.
It’s not just American girls who clinch the top title, though! Women from all over the world make it into the top 100, and three lovely ladies from outside the US have reached number one. Canadian beauty Estella Warren made to number one in 2000, while gorgeous Brit Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took the crown in 2011. Israeli model Bar Rafaeli was at the top of the list in 2012. The sexiness doesn’t stop once the ladies have left their twenties, though. The Hot 100 list has plenty of gorgeous gals over the age of thirty. Eva Longoria has made it to the top spot twice in a row, in 2005 and 2006, and she is the oldest winner of the Hot 100. News Broadcaster Hoda Kotb made it to number 79 in this year’s list, proving that being a hot celebrity doesn’t have an age requirement.

In past lists, older foxy ladies like Ana de la Reguera, Sofia Vergara, and Kelly Ripa have broken into the top 100.
Maxim’s never shied away from the accomplished ladies, either! In 2013, the Attorney General of California, Kamala Harris, got to number 54 on the list, proving that hotness is a deadly combo of looks and smarts. Controversial figures often make it on the list as well. Amanda Knox, recently exonerated from a murder charge in Italy, made it to number 92 on the list in 2012.
Never afraid of shying away from a laugh, the Hot 100 has also featured some unexpected guests. Lois Griffin made it to number 85 in 2012, while Manti T’eo’s fake girlfriend made her debut at number 69 in this year’s list. Stephen Colbert made it to number 69 as well. Perhaps this will be the start of a trend where number 69 is a joke spot, but only time will tell!
