Have you ever had a great movie ruined by an awful plot hole or a mistake that didn’t make sense but that you couldn’t get out of your head? You haven’t? Well, we’ll have to do something about then, won’t we?
Ocean’s Eleven (2001 Version)
This was a pretty confusing movie but one thing stands out above all the rest; where did the blooming flyers come from? How they managed to get them into the vault is anyone’s guess and even the film’s makers have confessed in interviews that it was a serious plot hole.
Planet of the Apes (2001 Version)

2001 seems to have been a vintage year for bad plot holes in remakes of classic films. In this case, the ship lands on an unpopulated planet. In the future apes live there because they were on board the ship. Ok, that makes sense. Humans also live there. Yup, they were on the ship as well. And the horses? And the freaking horses?
The Matrix
Some of the worst plot holes come in movies which involve weird stuff like jumping back and forward in time (we’ll speak to you in a minute, McFly) or entering the Matrix or such like. For instance, in the first scene why didn’t an agent take over the cop’s body and finish the whole thing there and then? We didn’t know that they could do that so early in the film but they could have. Also, who dialled in Cypher to meet Agent Smith and betray the group? We already know that an operator is needed to do this but the rest of the buddies are either dead or kicking ass somewhere. Also, how did the real Neo have his ear pierced? In fact, why did the robots even build an elaborate and dangerous dream world to harvest energy from humans? Couldn’t they have killed the humans and harvested energy from other animals? Or else put the people back into a dream world in the pre-computer age?
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indy discovers that the Nazis only have half the map and are therefore digging in the wrong place. Aha! So he can go to the beach for a few weeks, wait until they give up and then stroll over to reclaim the Ark. Err. Actually, he might just dig while they are still there and risk that the bad guys will notice him digging a blooming huge hole near their camp. They noticed.
Battlefield Earth

So, like you find these Harrier jets that have just been sitting around for 1000 years and they just work like new. Yeah, I guess you do. Me? I leave my car in the drive for a couple of weeks without starting it up and the blooming thing won’t budge.
The Shawshank Redemption
Who would have guessed that one of the worst plot holes is about an actual hole? So, who put the poster back up over the hole in the wall? It’s clearly been put up by someone in the cell rather than someone in the escape hole.
Titanic
Why was Jack even in the freezing cold water? I mean; look at the wardrobe door Rose is on. There’s surely room for two shivering shipwreck survivors on there. James Çameron claimed the raft lacked buoyancy but the Mythbusters team proved that putting Rose’s lifejacket on the door would have saved the day.
Back to the Future
We could be here all day dealing with McFly and Brown but let’s get down to the nitty gritty. How the hell did Marty’s parents not recognise him when we was growing up? Heck, our son looks identical to the guy that brought us together all those years ago and defined a new musical style with a guitar that didn’t yet exist. Yeah, that’s pretty memorable.
