Some repetitive songs are pretty cool in a minimalist sort of way. However, some of the worst and most repetitive songs ever written are enough to make you lose your mind if you listen to them too often. Like these ones, for example.

Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65

Annoying Repetitive Songs

It’s like a bunch of whacked out Italian practical jokers with no musical talent set out to deliberately make the worst song ever. I said, they did it deliberately, the devils that they are. The worst thing about this song is that someone once pointed out to me that the excruciating chorus sounds like “in Aberdeen I will die”. I used to have to travel for work to the city of Aberdeen at the time this song was inexplicably popular and always worried that it was some sort of dark Europop disaster prophecy. It wasn’t.

Revolution 9 by the Beatles

Annoying Repetitive Songs

I haven’t listened to this song in years and I have no intention of putting myself through that pain now just to be able to write a well researched article. All I can say is that the day I bought the Beatles White Album was a sad, sad day in my life. I am a huge fan of the Fab Four and rushed home with the all white CD tucked under my jacket. While peeking at the cover on the bus home I was a bit surprised to find frankly unorthodox song titles about bungalows, raccoons and piggies. Still, it must be a masterpiece, mustn’t it? Mustn’t it? I listened to the whole double album barminess of it but my patience finally snapped with Revolution 9. I have only listened to this song once in my life but I believe it consists entirely of someone saying “Number 9” over and over again with weird effects in the background.

Tubthumping by Chumbawumba

Annoying Repetitive Songs

If you have ever had the bad luck to hear this song then the words “I get knocked down” are probably familiar to you. There may or may be a line in there about lager drinks and whisky drinks as well. Good lord, how I hated this song back in the 90s, especially that awful “Danny Boy” bit. It’s like they wrote a couple of lines they liked and then had absolutely no idea what else to write after that.

Around the World by Daft Punk

Annoyingly Repetitive Songs

Daft Punk have taken the art of writing repetitive songs to a whole new level. In fact, if I’m not mistaken this entire lyrical masterpiece consists of the same three words over and over again. If you were to set up a brutal dictatorship in a banana republic (and I strongly urge you against doing such a thing) you could use this song to torture your enemies. Having said all that, I quite liked this song, although I was probably being brainwashed by Daft Punk every time I listened to it.

So Lonely by The Police

Annoyingly Repetitive Songs

I think that the singer of this song might be lonely. I don’t why I know this, just call it a hunch.

Who Let the Dogs Out by the Baha Men

Annoyingly Repetitive Songs

Let’s face it; when you call your song Who Let the Dogs Out you are kind of painting yourself into a corner, lyrically speaking. The lyrical inspiration thing just ain’t going to happen if you plan to write a song about letting canines loose. Thankfully, this song has an instrumental chorus to break up the monotony. Altogether now, “woof woof woof woof”.
