A deep apology to our Cleveland readers out there, but in this time of national struggle and divisiveness, there are silver linings. And nothing was as wondrous and exciting as the Chicago Cubs winning the series in 2016. It was, by far, a Series of such anticipation (I mean, that rain delay!) and nail-biting excitement, that we must recognize this:

Sports like this (especially baseball) brings America together is ways we can never truly understand. The love of a team, the love of a game and the love of the men, women and children that follow them both is at the heart of what keeps this nation together.

As ABC News’s Dan Harris says, “The last time the Chicago Cubs won a World Series, television had not been invented, World War I had not happened and Arizona and New Mexico  were not yet American states, making tonight’s game nothing short of history.”
