Come on, guys! You can do better than that! While there is no need to start off any online chat with a “line”, it is smart to know and have a plan on how to navigate the conversation. Remember that you are neither on a date, nor are you being rejected. You are simply approaching a stranger.
In a spirit of respect and a love for women, here are some DOs and DON’Ts of initiating some interaction with a woman online.
DO: TELL HER SHE IS BEAUTIFUL
It is quite okay to make it clear that you are attracted to her physically. However, it is essential that you are respectful and specific in what you compliment (eyes, smile, intelligence, humor, etc)
DON’T: SEXUALIZE THE COMPLIMENT
Don’t compliment her body, or initiate any conversation with sex talk. Don’t ask her what she is wearing, what she likes in bed or any references to “Netflix and chilling”.
DO: ASK HER ABOUT HERSELF
Ask her questions about her life, job, interests, family. Listen and follow up each question. Be specific and respond with curiosity.
DON’T: ASK BASIC QUESTIONS
Avoid general questions or asking anything that has a simple yes-or-no question. “How was your day?” is not as successful as “What was your favorite part of your day?”
DO: READ HER PROFILE
It is very simple. If you are interested in someone, take the few small moments it takes to read her profile before saying hello. You might be saving yourself a ton of time.
DON’T: MESSAGE ON THE FLY
If you are driving, or in a meeting, do not start a conversation. Give her the courtesy of your attention. If she responds, when you are in a distracted situation, tell her, and respond later.
DO: SEND SELFIES
A flirty picture of you on lunch or saying hello might be appreciated and will definitely show off your personality.
DON’T: SEND DICK PICS
Keep it in your pants. She probably does not want to see it yet.
DO: BE RESPECTFUL
Listen to her social cuses and react accordingly. Is she ready to go out? Does she need some time? Say please, thank you and offer to chat on the phone if she prefers.
DON’T: REACT STRONGLY IF SHE DOESN’T LIKE YOU
She is not a bad person for not being in to you. She is human. Let it go and remember there are a ton of other fish online.
