We thought the summer is over, but the humidity has gone nowhere. It is the difficult Indian Summer when the summer heat revisits before finally cooling off in October. It is important to be prepared to avoid the sweat marks and pit stains that inevitably creep in at this time. Beat the heat this season and every other by following these rules.
ALWAYS WEAR AN UNDERSHIRT
Seriously. If you have a button down shirt on, protect yourself with a thin undershirt to avoid sweat marks. They also help you maintain your shirt for longer AND avoid smells (so you might get a second wearing out of the shirt.
TAKE COLD SHOWERS
Whether at home or at the gym, set your day up right by not taking the warmest showers. We actually do not stop sweating in the shower, so a warm shower on a warm day simply starts the perspiration process. If you insist on a warmer shower, go cold at the very end for a few seconds. It will wake you up and cool you down.
CHECK THE WEATHER REPORT
We have no excuse anymore. We have access to weather reports at out fingertips. Check the weather and dress appropriately.
CARRY AN EXTRA UNDERSHIRT
Throw an extra shirt in your trunk or briefcase. You will always need an extra to refresh on especially warm days. Do this. You will not be sorry.
PREPARE YOUR PITS
Many people choose not to wear antiperspirant. No matter your choice, carry some extra deodorant with you to keep you fresh and smelling clean. Travel sizes come in handy.
AVOID BACKPACKS
Backpacks, while occasionally handy, are the biggest culprits behind sweaty backs. Stick to briefcases and messenger bags on the warmest days.
HYDRATE
It is hot .Drink fluids. This is the healthy thing to do, but also gives you more energy and prevents bad breath.
BRING A HANKY
On especially warm days, think ahead and carry a handkerchief. If you know you are a sweat-er, this is especially important. Maybe even bring two
PICK A FAN OVER AC
During the transitional times, pick the option that is the easiest to adjust. Have your fans ready and get rid of the AC. These days the AC might make things too cold (so you turn it off), but you will still be in need of a cool down. Stick to a fan and an open window if that works. It is more adaptable.
